About PHO•NOM1NAL

PHO•NOM1NAL is a vietnamese in Allentown, Pennsylvania. It is listed at 319 S Cedar Crest Blvd, Allentown, PA 18103, which places it among the local businesses of Allentown that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as pho restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Allentown is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Allentown follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I had high hopes when I walked in and saw Viet faces and heard Viet accents. However, the taste ended up unfortunately, being the same as Chinese run pho restaurants - very bland, flat and unsatisfying. Lesser known secret is the best authentic pho broths will probably have a deep brown color that indicates use of charred aromatics in the making of the broth, whereas the worst kinds of “broth” have a light beige color, I suspect because they just use water and instant pho powder to imitate the taste of pho broth as a cheap time saving shortcut. This gives the soup a very artificial flat taste. We ordered the pho dac biet which is supposed to have tendon, tripe, and rare steak, but all we received were a mountain of well-done brisket and a couple pieces of chopped meatballs. I could not bring myself to finish the bowl when I normally have no problem if it’s good pho. The fried chicken app was also very tough, tasted like leftovers remicrowaved too long. The summer rolls were just ok, very mid. Lastly, the Thai iced tea just tasted bad. Very disappointed in everything we got here, but since Lehigh valley has a small viet population, I think that’s why they get away with taking lazy s

Very small family ran business. Owners child was running around and screaming the whole time. Almost ran into an elderly woman who had mobility issues. Was screaming she needed to pee. The food was solid but if you’re looking for a peaceful meal, this isn’t it.

Couldn’t give higher stars for service. Food was easily 5 as well. Pho was amazing, got the brisket. Worth it. Also got the pork over rice which is the picture. The meat serving was fairly large, and carried a lot of flavor. Also ordered the carpaccio for appetizers as it was a traditional dish as explained by Dante. Excellent recommendation. If weren’t passing through it would be a staple spot.

Had a wonderful experience! Their broth is really tasty! They do great servings of meat and overall food! Great service they serve very quickly as well ! But you also don’t feel rushed! We also got spring rolls and they were really good. Definitely a must try. Go check them out.

This little spot blew me away. I’m a soup girl and so is my oldest son. Went looking for soup for him because he was sick. He wanted pho. I googled and found phonom1nal. Cute little restaurant, spotlessly clean . Young man taking orders was super nice and another was serving tables and cleaning other ones. Everything I bought was phenom1nal! Rice rice was delicious, summer rolls, spring rolls , chicken wings. The star was the pho. Bought two deluxe beef with beef, brisket and meatball. So delicious! My son loved it too. Absolutely going back soon. If you like pho you have to go try them out. Oh and the prices were great!
